How do I connect to my car with Bluetooth, USB, or AUX?

You can listen with the Audible app in your car over Bluetooth, USB, or AUX.

Connect via Bluetooth

You can listen to the Audible app with Car Mode over Bluetooth. After pairing your device for the first time, it will automatically connect to your car in the future.

1. In your device Settings, turn Bluetooth on and set your device to “discoverable.”
2. Activate your car’s Bluetooth. These steps may vary depending on your car’s system.
3. Pair your device with your car. You may be prompted to enter a code.

Connect via USB cable

You must have a USB port built-in directly to your vehicle's sound system to connect this way.

1. Check for a USB port in your car.
2. Connect your phone with a USB cable.

Connect via AUX cable

An AUX cable is different from a USB cable. It plugs directly into your radio or car with a headphone jack. You won’t be able to use Apple CarPlay or Android Auto with this connection, but you can play titles directly from the Audible app on your phone with the option to use Car Mode.

1. Check for an AUX port in your car.
2. Connect your phone with an AUX cable.

 

How do I listen with Android Auto?

With Android Auto, you can enjoy a simplified listening experience either through your car's built-in display and stereo.

Note: You can also use your voice to control Audible on Android Auto with Alexa.

Listen on your car's display

1. Open the Audible app.
2. Connect your phone via USB to your Android Auto-compatible stereo.
3. If Audible is already playing, it will continue to play through your car stereo. If not, launch the Audible app on your display and pick a title from your Library.
   • If you don't see the title you wish to play on your car's display, you can play it from the Audible app on your phone.

How do I listen on my Android Automotive Operating System?

Step 1: Install the app

Note: Installing the Audible app requires an active internet connection.

1. Open the Google Play Store in your car’s display.
2. Search for the Audible app.
3. Select the Audible app.
4. Select Install.

Step 2: Sign in to the Audible app

Depending on app version, you can sign in by QR code, code, or through e-mail and password.

Use a QR code

1. Scan the QR code from the Audible app on your car's display using the camera on your phone.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter the Amazon e-mail and password associated with your Audible account.

Use a code

1. Select Sign In with code.
2. Visit www.amazon.in/code on your mobile device and sign in using your Amazon e-mail and password associated with your Audible account.
3. Enter the code found on your car’s creen.

Note: If your code isn’t working or if you’re experiencing any issue entering your code, you can tap I need a new code on the car screen to receive an updated code.

Use e-mail and password

1. Select Sign In with e-mail and password.
2. Follow the on-screen prompts to enter the Amazon e-mail and password associated with your Audible account.

 

How do I listen with Apple CarPlay?

CarPlay is an iOS system that lets you listen to Audible through your car's built-in display and stereo system.

Note: Alexa isn’t available when using Apple CarPlay. You can use your voice to control Audible Apple CarPlay with Siri.

1. Connect your iPhone to your car via USB.
2. If CarPlay’s home screen doesn’t appear, select CarPlay on the display.
3. Open the Audible app.
4. Pick a title to play.
   • If you don't see the title you wish to play on your car's display, you can play it from the Audible app on your phone.

Note: CarPlay requires an iPhone 5 or later to use. Some newer cars support CarPlay via Bluetooth. See your owner's manual for more information.

 

How do I listen with Car Mode?

Car Mode is a feature in the Audible app for both iOS and Android. It provides a simplified listening experience including hands-free voice controls. There are only four buttons on the screen:

• Alexa tap to talk
• Play/Pause
• Go Back 30 Seconds
• Add a Bookmark

Note: For hands-free listening on the go, you can also use your voice with Alexa or Siri to control Audible. Turn on voice controls and try saying “Go back 3 minutes.”

Turn on Car Mode

1. Open your player in the app.
2. Select the Car Mode icon.

Turn off Car Mode

Select the X icon to exit your Car Mode display.

Turn on Automatic Car Mode

Automatic Car Mode is available in the Audible app for both iOS and Android. When it’s on, Car Mode will launch in your player whenever your phone connects to your car via Bluetooth.

Note: You can also turn this feature off anytime from the same Player settings.

1. Go to your Profile.
2. Select the Settings gear icon.
3. Select Player.
4. Turn on Automatic Car Mode.

 

How do I listen with Waze?

The Audible app for both iOS and Android is compatible with any Waze application that’s version 4.69 or higher.

Allow Waze integration in the Audible app

1. Go to your Profile.
2. Select the Settings gear icon.
3. Select Connect to other apps.
4. Toggle on Waze integration.

Allow Audible integration in the Waze app

1. Open Waze.
2. Go to Settings.
3. Select Audio player.
4. Toggle on Show on the map.

How to play titles in the Waze app

You can skip forward and back, play, and pause your Audible titles within the Waze app.

1. Open Waze.
2. Select the Audio player icon.
3. Select Audible and allow it to connect to Audible.
4. Select Show list to view your 8 most recent titles.
5. To listen to other titles, select Open Audible.

How do I listen in my Tesla?

Tesla cars now allow you to listen to Audible through your car's built-in display and stereo system via the Audible for Tesla app.

To listen to Audible in your Tesla:

1. Open the Audible app on your Tesla’s built-in display.
2. Sign in by scanning the QR Code.
   • Scan the QR code from the Audible app on your Tesla's display using the camera on your phone.
   • When signing into the Audible app for the first time, follow the on-screen prompts to enter the Amazon e-mail and password associated with your Audible account.
   • Once this is completed on the phone it can take up to 30 seconds to update the Audible for Tesla app to be logged in.
3. Select a title to play.
   • If you don't see the title you wish to play on your Tesla's display, you can search for it using the Tesla search or Voice Search.

• Sign in is currently only possible with an email address. If you sign in to Audible with a username, please contact Customer Support to get help.
• Purchases of new titles via app, following podcasts and adding to Library are not available on Audible for Tesla at this time.
• The Library is limited to showing 100 audiobooks at this time. Using the Tesla search you can find any title in your Library and the Continue Listening carousel shows your most recent plays.

How to sign out of the Audible for Tesla app?

1. Open the Audible app on your Tesla’s built-in display.
2. Select the profile icon.
3. Select Sign out.

 

How do I listen in my Mercedes-Benz?

Select Mercedes-Benz vehicles now allow you to listen to Audible through your MBUX Infotainment-System via the Audible for Mercedes-Benz app.

Step 1: Open the Audible app

1. Open the Audible app on your vehicle's display.
2. Find the Audible app either on the display or in the "Music folder," depending on your vehicle's system version.

Note: Using the Audible app requires an active internet connection. You can download it from the in-car store.

Step 2: Sign in to the Audible app

1. Sign in by scanning the QR Code.
   1. Scan the QR code from the Audible app on your vehicle's display using the camera on your mobile device to link your Audible account to your Mercedes-Benz car.
   2. This will automatically open the Audible app on your phone.
   3. If this is your first time using Audible, log in with your Amazon email and password associated with your Audible account.
2. Allow a few minutes for your account status to update in the Audible app.

Step 3: Start listening

1. Select a title to play.
2. Browse your library directly in your in-car Audible app.
